Delivery Information

When should I request heating oil delivery?
Dwyer recommends that customers request fuel oil delivery when their tank gauge reads one-quarter (1/4) full. This gives us time to make your delivery before your tank runs out.

What is the difference between Automatic Delivery and on-demand delivery?
Automatic delivery customers receive heating oil on a custom delivery schedule created and monitored by Dwyer. Will call customers are responsible for checking their tank gauges and ordering oil as needed.

What to Do If Your Home Loses Heat

If you experience what you think may be a heat loss, don’t panic! See if you can correct the issue safely with this checklist before making an emergency service call:

No-Heat Checklist

  • Fuel Tank: Check tank gauge to see if you have fuel oil. If you do not, call Dwyer immediately to schedule a delivery.
  • Thermostat: Make sure your setting is on HEAT and the cooling function is off.
  • Switches: Check that all furnace and emergency switches are ON.
  • Reset Button: Press the RESET button on your furnace, ONCE ONLY.

If you have performed the above steps and you still don’t have heat, contact Dwyer right away for assistance.

Easy Ways to Save Energy

For Warm Weather

  • Choose a high-efficiency air conditioning system to stay cool. Models with ENERGY STAR® label and a SEER of higher than 16 offer the best results.
  • Schedule your annual tune-up. Along with important preventative maintenance, simply replacing a dirty, clogged air filter with a clean one can reduce your air conditioner’s energy consumption by 5-15%.
  • Sign up for a cooling system maintenance plan for either your central A/C system or ductless heat pump. This includes services to keep your equipment operating properly to save you money on service calls and repairs.

For Cold Weather

  • If your oil or gas heating system is 15 years old or older, upgrading to a new high-efficiency system can reduce your annual fuel costs by as much as 30%.
  • Scheduling a tune-up of your heating equipment just once a year can lower your annual fuel costs by 10%.
  • Enroll in a maintenance plan for your oil or gas equipment to increase efficiency, lower consumption, and avoid unplanned service calls.

Throughout the Seasons

  • Use your window treatments. Keep them closed during hot summer days to keep the indoor temperature low. In the winter, keep them open to let the sun’s rays naturally rise the temperature.
  • Install a Wi-Fi thermostat to achieve better comfort, greater convenience, and save money.

Winter Safety

Heating Oil Delivery

  • Please keep driveway and pathways clear of ice and snow to help our delivery drivers deliver your fuel oil safely and on-schedule. This includes any necessary plowing and shoveling to allow access to your home and fill location.

Ordering Oil

  • Running out of heating fuel is an unnecessary safety hazard that can cause significant damage to your heating equipment. In order to prevent a no-heat emergency, on-demand customers must check their tank gauge regularly and order oil with plenty of time for Dwyer to make a delivery.
  • Automatic delivery is the easiest way to minimize the risk of a no-heat emergency. Automatic Delivery customers still need to check their tank gauge every so often, as an added precaution, and must inform Dwyer of any changes that could affect typical heat usage, like property additions or an increase in household size.
